Internship in Landscape Design
There is an opportunity for individuals who are interested in a healing, aesthetic, and relational approach to landscape design, and who wish to explore more deeply the life forces (etheric forces) in plants and nature, to take part in an internship and actively contribute to the gardens.
The focus is not placed on the personal sphere of the individual, but rather on bringing an ideal thought into concrete form. In this way, landscape design can become a creative art that has a healing effect on both nature and the human being, ultimately contributing to peace.

The internship will mainly take place on the grounds of the University in Lundo and Naone.
Learning objectives and learning contents are:
- General: Strengthening the ability of perception, developing greater awareness and the capacity to build relationships. The following proposed exercises and contents support these subtle developmental processes and naturally enhance each individual’s ability to discern. They also promote new and richer possibilities of experiencing and sensing. The contents can be applied to all areas of life.
- Observations of nature and exercises for perceiving life forces (etheric observation) accompany the work in the gardens of Lundo and Naone and simultaneously influence the aforementioned aspects.
- Re-experiencing of forms
- meditation
- Exercises for the soul
- Concentration
- Forces of wisdom in nature and the signature of individual plants
- How does one attain ideals in life?
The soul exercises were developed by Heinz Grill to cultivate a rich emotional life and to attain initial supersensible insights.

How do the senses flow toward the object?
Do the senses reach the plant, or are they distracted?

A consciously repeated sensory activity, guided by specific questions, gradually leads to a deeper perception of nature, as the plants reveal their essence to the observer. This is comparable to a crystal, which is initially covered with impurities and, through careful work, increasingly expresses its beautiful, pure, transparent crystal form.

It is beneficial if the intern does not see themselves merely as a “learner” or “student,” but as an independent person who possesses creative and design skills, and can expand and apply them. Suggestions that harmoniously integrate into the overall context and contribute to the theme are welcome.
The duration of the internship can be designed to be very flexible. It is possible, by arrangement, to do an internship for several days, but also to work for just half a day, leaving the afternoon free for your own use.
- If desired, you can also participate in guided hikes in the surrounding area, including nature observations.
- Participate in cultural afternoons, during which we explore the various Italian architectural landscape designs in the area and work out their differences in detail.
The foundation of the landscape design practiced here and the inquisitive research activity, which includes many architectural elements, is based on the thoughts and insights of Heinz Grill. In his architecture book, he describes extensively the forms and their effects on humans, as well as the development of sensory enjoyment. Additionally, in his book “Exercises for the Soul”, he presents 10 exercises that in various ways foster an ordered thinking process, a differentiated perception, and a structured and sensitive emotional life.
Furthermore, the research findings of Rudolf Steiner, who studied nature spirits or elemental beings in great depth and whose insights are recorded in many books in a very detailed manner, are also of great interest for study and exploration. Other authors, such as Ernst Marti with his book “The Four Ethers”, who engaged intensively with Steiner’s ether theory, as well as many others, also enrich one’s own research activities and broaden the subject.
I owe the ability to offer the design work presented here to Heinz Grill, whose ideas and concrete content created the possibilities to explore and expand the topic of landscape design, ecology, and the human relationship to nature in unprecedented and very concrete ways. One cannot help but ask:
Does nature need humans, or does it not?
These two poles stand in stark contrast today and call on humans to deepen and clarify the question.
Might a synthesis even be conceivable? If so, what would it look like?

People from other disciplines, such as geomancy, Feng Shui, Ayurveda, Zen, and many others, who are interested in expanding their experiences, are welcome. A constructive exchange on the various thematic approaches is encouraged and will always be enriching, connecting, and lively, provided it is carried out with mutual respect.

I look forward to your interest, to meeting you, and to a constructive exchange on the diverse design topics.
